heh...not a chance, at least in this house. We're trying to find a new place, with my only criteria being a 3 car garage and a basement for my Man Cave.

We may actually start talking about building one, since my brother-in-law is a local builder who's sitting on his hands and too many unsold properties currently... forums

Thanks guys. A couple of questions if you'd be so kind as to indulge me. First off, neither of the 291's have connectors on them, just holes on the backsides. What do I need to do in order to at least hook one of these up?

One of the two is damaged in that one of the three mounting bolts is sheared off at close to the level of the base. It also has a rattling inside of it. I'm assuming that this one is prolly toast, but I'm not going to do anything with it currently. I may try and see if I can tap the broken bolt at a buddy's place, using his mill/drill press, and then use an Easy Out to back it out. I could also send the whole kit and kaboodle to GPA....Thoughts?

If I could find a method of hooking up the intact one, I'd at least like to try and see if it makes some sound. Here's another picture or two...

Pre-soak with PB Blaster, I don't know what makes this stuff special, but over the decades I've tried them all on heavily corroded/rusted assemblies from lawnmowers to junkyard, studs, frozen cable assemblies, you name it and most do little/nothing, but this stuff is something else and should be readily available at many of the various 'big box' and auto parts stores as well as on-line........ http://www.jeepfan.com/reviews/pbblaster.htm

Close up of the remaining 'phragm...do the small marks on it, plus the broken leads mean it's toast too?... forums

From your pic i don't see anythng catostrophic with the dome. The lead in conductors can be repaired, but for a "one off" symbiotik phragm, why bother?

FWIW, your last pic shows a nice view of the eccentrically movable locating pin and it's small phllips head mounting screw. forums

I'm with Bowtie- a 291 fram ain't worth fixing, though if I was using them, I might fix and keep for emergencies.

GPA can do 2 new frams, remag, and new terminals.

At that point they are literally "good as new".

Paid Bill today. He said it was a B***H getting the broken bolt out of the one driver. New 'phragms, recharge, new connectors, and a sweep test, shipped back to my door for under 300 clams....

    LONG LIVE GPA!!!

Glowing report to follow upon receipt, hopefully this Sat.... forums
